INITIAL ENGAGEMENT
Aaron first engaged with us whilst at HMP Birmingham and later re-engaged at HMPYOI Stoke Heath. Following his release, he visited our office where we discussed Aaron’s plan for the life he wanted to build.
HOW WE HELPED
While reviewing his qualifications, we saw that Aaron had obtained his CSCS card at HMP Birmingham. At the time, we were aware of a vacancy with a leading trades and labour agency that had ringfenced a position for a prison leaver. Based on our relationship with the employer, and our confidence in his readiness for work, Aaron was offered the job without an interview.
OVERCOMING BARRIERS
The journey was not without challenges. Aaron was released on a Home Detention Curfew (HDC) tag, and his curfew prevented him from getting to work on time. We liaised with his offender managers to adjust his curfew hours, enabling him to take up the role.
